education courses and the Alexander Technique for musicians. Ms. Mozeiko holds

Technique with music education/performance into her research and writing.
My Story: I was in
pain and had been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, thoracic
outlet syndrome, and a sublexing ular nerve. I had tried it all, or so I
thought; massage, Feldenkrais, shiatsu, yoga, weight-lighting, acupuncture,
chiropractic work, physical therapy, surgery, prescription drugs, osteopathy,
rieki, Chinese herbs, and various healers. Although several of these methods provided me with
a good deal of relief from the symptoms I was always left having to go back for
more treatments without ever really feeling as though the underlying problems
were being addressed.
At 22 years old I was
asking myself the following; Was I going
to have to deal with chronic pain for the rest of my life? What had gone awry? Was I not physically designed to play a musical
instrument?Why could other musicians
practice, several hours a day, but I could not?Why hadn't my teachers, doctors or physical therapists been able to
provide me with any help? Was there
something wrong with my body? Was it genetics? I discovered the
Alexander Technique in 1999 and found that my primary problems were habitual
patterns of tension, poor posture, general misuse, and lack of informed body
awareness.
Alexander Technique
lessons allowed me to address the real issues behind the symptoms, enabled me
to live pain-free while improving all aspects of performing. Above all, the
technique helped me to feel better in my body.
